Springtime in California

The weather's been so nice here, I can't wait to just get outside and sit in the sun all day! There's no better time to go out and enjoy the garden, especially now that my humans have put so much effort into cultivating it. I just love to sneak around a fence they've put up and poke around in the freshly tilled flower bed. It's a good thing I've got this cute face to get me out of hot water.

My Tooth Saga

As you have probably noticed, I have a very 'unique' smile. Somewhere in between the Boxer and the Pug my genes couldn't decide what to do with my jawline, and I ended up with a lopsided underbite. It doesn't bother me, and most people think it's pretty cute!

It used to give me quite a bit of trouble, though. Last year my humans took me to the vet for a professional cleaning and I ended up having to have nine teeth pulled! Mostly they took molars, but they also took one of my starring, front-row teeth! This is me before:

And this is me the day after:

I was pretty shellshocked.

I'm happy to say now that my teeth are healthy and I love to eat like never before!

In order to keep that way, though, I have to receive a nightly toothbrushing. I'm not crazy about it but I tolerate it because I know as soon as that's finished I'll get my dinner!

Finally...

Finally, that scrounger Millie is gone and I have the house and the humans to myself!

Peace at last...

Ok, maybe Millie's on to something

I have to admit that maybe I made a mistake in saying there's nothing to learn from my big sister. This weekend she taught me the fine art of sunbathing.

Eco-friendly, solar-powered pup.

All that sunbathing is enough to make me drowsy.

I'm so mellowed out, man, I don't even think I hate Millie anymore.

On the Subject of Butt Scratches

Butt Scratches make me go crazy! I'll be a perfect little angel as long as you're scratching my bee-hind.

This is one of my humans, cuddling my stupid step-sister Millie. I hate her! Why do they like her so much?

Today we went to the dog park at Point Isabel, which I love! I saw some cousins (a pug and a boxer), but wasn't much interested in meeting them. Millie was really rowdy but my behavior was exemplary!

I Hate Sharing

I've been in a stinky mood since yesterday because my stupid "sister" Millie is visiting from our "grandparents"' house.

I hate when she comes to visit because I have to share all the things I never use when she's not around, like my beds and my toys. Plus my human gives her pets and attention that would otherwise all go to me! I hate Millie!

Millie's not even a boxer or a pug. She's a black lab/pitbull mix. She weighs in at 75 lbs., but I'm pretty proud to say that at 36 lbs. I can boss her around and she (usually) listens to me. Here we are at Halloween- notice how I'm the one who gets the couch.

Go home, Millie! I don't like sharing the humans with you!

Welcome to the Bug Dog Blog

My name is Molly, and my human was inspired to create this blog after noticing a dearth of bug-related topics out there on the web. So we would like to officially create a haven for bug dogs and their relatives to showcase photos, stories, and advice. In short, we wanted to start a little meeting spot for a bug dog community.

What's a bug dog? Well, it's this:

That is, one part BOXER, one part PUG, 100% BUG

We (that is, my human and I) hope to bring other bug dogs, as well as bug dog cousins (purebred boxers and pugs as well as other boxer mixes and pug mixes) out of the woodwork with this blog. Please feel free to share any photos or stories you may have, we'll be more than happy to put them up! Thanks!

Until soon,

xoxo Molly
